Kallelse till extrainsatt årsmöte för verksamhetsåret 2025!

Till skillnad från tidigare år har vi schemalagt det ordinarie årsmötet i december istället för i januari. Detta är för att underlätta överlämningen mellan nuvarande styrelse, varav många åker iväg på utbyte, och nästa styrelse. Eftersom räkenskapsåret ännu inte är slut vid årsmötets tid kommer vi ha ett extrainsatt årsmöte den 9e januari där vi presenterar verksamhetsberättelse samt ekonomisk berättelse och revisorerna presenterar deras förslag för att bevilja nuvarande styrelse ansvarsfrihet. Därför kommer också nästa styrelse kliva på officiellt i början på januari men då vara väl informerade om deras roller. Tid och plats för mötet kommer att annonseras inom kort.

Invitation to UPaD's additional annual meeting 2025!

Unlike previous years, we have scheduled the regular annual meeting in December instead of January. This is to make the handover easier between the current board, many of whom are leaving on exchange, and the next board. As the financial year is not yet over at the time of the annual meeting, we will have an additional annual meeting on January 9th where we will present the business report and financial report and the auditors will present their proposal to grant the current board discharge from liability. Therefore, the next board will also step on officially at the beginning of January, but will then be well informed about their roles. The time and place for the meeting will be announced shortly.

God jul kära paddor!

Julen är snart kommen men innan många av oss lämnar Uppsala för de kommande högtiderna vill vi bjuda in er till den årliga traditionen av julfika måndagen den 16 december. I egenskap av medlemmar i Uppsala Peace and Development Students’ Association kallar vi härmed till föreningens årsmöte. Årsmötet är föreningens högsta organ med rätt att bland annat välja föreningens styrelse och valberedning.
Detta årsmöte kommer äga rum den 10/12 2024 på Gamla Torget, sal och tid TBA.

Under årsmötet skall samtliga poster till föreningens styrelse för verksamhetsåret 2025 väljas, dessa är:

Join UPaD and Afrikagrupperna for a crucial seminar featuring Christine Nabwami (Uganda) and Brenda Muronda (Zimbabwe) from Afrikagrupperna’s partner organization, La Via Campesina. Together, we’ll delve into food as a human right and explore the pressing need for climate justice beyond theoretical discussions, emphasizing practical pathways to sustainable systems.

Access to food is a fundamental human right, yet over 733 million people worldwide suffer from hunger and malnutrition. Alongside this, climate change intensifies these issues, impacting food security and disproportionately affecting communities least responsible for global emissions. This seminar will explore how food sovereignty and climate justice intersect—not only as rights but as necessary frameworks to create fairer, climate-resilient food systems.

Our panelists will discuss what a "just transition" should look like, shifting from industrial agriculture controlled by profit-driven corporations to systems that prioritize environmental health, social equity, and local empowerment. UPaD’s probably most popular and fun event is the traditional trip to SkiWeek, and FINALLY registration is open for the 2025 trip! SkiWeek is organized every year by Skistar and occurs during v. 3-5 in Åre, respectively v. 3-4 in Vemdalen. We are currently signed up for SkiWeek in Vemdalen during Week 4, January 19-23 (likely departing from Uppsala on Saturday evening, January 18th). We are also on the waiting list for SkiWeek in Åre, so if spots open up there, we will go to Åre instead.

In order for us as a student association to be able to register for SkiWeek, we need to know exactly how many toads that are keen to come along as we register jointly for booking, transport, accommodation etc. The total cost of the trip cannot yet be determined, but usually ends up at around SEK 4.000 kr/person (which includes travel, accommodation and SkiPass for 5 days).

In order for this to be possible, a committee also needs to be put together that takes on most of the responsibility for the trip (as the current event managers are going on exchange + a new board has just taken office). Everyone who registers for the trip is welcome to get involved and more information about this will be announced during an upcoming committee meeting.
