Title: Food Rights and Climate Justice Beyond Theories: Building Sustainable Systems
Time: 15:15–16:30
Location: Lewinsalen
Hosted by: UPaD and Afrikagrupperna
Open to: All

Join UPaD and Afrikagrupperna for a crucial seminar featuring Christine Nabwami (Uganda) and Brenda Muronda (Zimbabwe) from Afrikagrupperna’s partner organization, La Via Campesina. Together, we’ll delve into food as a human right and explore the pressing need for climate justice beyond theoretical discussions, emphasizing practical pathways to sustainable systems.

Why Attend?
Access to food is a fundamental human right, yet over 733 million people worldwide suffer from hunger and malnutrition. Alongside this, climate change intensifies these issues, impacting food security and disproportionately affecting communities least responsible for global emissions. This seminar will explore how food sovereignty and climate justice intersect—not only as rights but as necessary frameworks to create fairer, climate-resilient food systems.

Our panelists will discuss what a "just transition" should look like, shifting from industrial agriculture controlled by profit-driven corporations to systems that prioritize environmental health, social equity, and local empowerment. Learn about practical approaches to climate justice that strengthen small-scale farmers’ ability to adapt and lead.
